London, San Francisco, July 3, 2018: Digital Shadows, the experts in digital risk management and relevant threat intelligence, announced today the expansion of its senior leadership team to support company growth.
Entering its eighth year in business, Digital Shadows supports more than 200 organizations on a global basis, protecting them from digital risks. The company now has offices in London, San Francisco, Dallas, Singapore and Germany and employs almost 200 people. Last year it completed its Series C funding round bringing the total to $49m invested since founders Alastair Paterson and James Chappell set up the business.
James Chappell, One of the Founders of Digital Shadows has taken on the newly created role of Chief Intelligence & Innovation Officer. This sees him tasked with planning and executing future solutions and capabilities to support growing customer needs by enhancing the company’s market leading SearchLight service.
James has led teams in InfoSec and Cybersecurity since 1997, working across the private sector and Government organizations helping them to understand the technical aspects of information security. He spent over 10 years of his career as a security architect and deputy head of information security at BAE Systems Detica; he previously worked at Nortel Networks in the U.S. James has always been fascinated by innovative ways of counteracting the growth of crime and fraud in computer networks and developing effective ways of measuring and managing the security big picture. With the start of Digital Shadows in 2011 this journey led to an exploration of digital footprints, and their impact on the security of the modern business.
Felix Knoll has joined the leadership team as the newly created Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) overseeing global sales and customer success for Digital Shadows. Felix is a sales leader with a track record of success from early stage to public companies. Most recently he built up and ran the worldwide sales organization for eSentire, a recognized security MDR leader growing revenue every quarter and 8x since his start, resulting in a successful exit in 2017. Prior to eSentire, Felix ran a $100m Managed Security Services business at Symantec achieving consistent double-digit growth year over year and some of the largest wins in its company history. He has also demonstrated sales success at Mercury Interactive and Sun Microsystems.
Bryan O’Neil has assumed the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He has worked with Digital Shadows since the beginning of the company, developing Searchlight’s technical architecture. Bryan has 15 years’ experience in development and architecture of mission critical systems. He previously worked with BAE Systems Detica, supporting customers from several UK Government departments as well as the AA, Three, Sainsburys and Vodafone before joining Digital Shadows in 2011.
Emily Biggs has assumed the role of Vice President of Engineering. She joined Digital Shadows at the company’s inception and developed its initial offering, growing the company’s development team. Emily specialises in architectural enterprise-level critical systems, particularly in the big data risk intelligence domain. She previously worked at BAE Systems Detica as lead developer, technical project manager, and technical architect. She holds a degree in computer science from Oxford University.
Russell Bentley has joined Digital Shadows as Vice President of Product. He has over a decade of technical Cybersecurity experience, working with a diverse group of customers in North America, Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Digital Shadows, he was VP of Product Management at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence overseeing their cybersecurity portfolio of managed security services and SaaS solutions. At Digital Shadows he leads the product management and user experience teams and is responsible for the product strategy, ensuring Digital Shadows continues to solve valuable problems for its customers as the market and threat landscape evolves.
Alex Seton has been promoted to Senior Vice President Business and Corporate Development continuing his efforts to develop business and technology partnerships for Digital Shadows around the world. His success in enabling key partnerships at Digital Shadows includes: IBM Security, Splunk, Phantom, Demisto, Cisco Security, ServiceNow, Palo Alto Networks, Anomali, ThreatConnect, ThreatQ, LockPath, and TruStar Technology. Alex is well known in the cybersecurity industry for identifying and delivering compelling product solutions and strategic partnerships resulting in increased customer value and company acceleration.
