19 January 2016

London and San Francisco, January 19, 2016 – Digital Shadows today announced that Rick Holland will join the company’s leadership team as vice president of strategy, to help shape the company’s vision, roadmap and key partnerships.

Holland previously served as vice president and principal analyst at Forrester Research, providing strategic guidance on security architecture, operations and data privacy to senior information security leadership. Rick created and led Forrester’s cyber threat intelligence research efforts, and he is currently the co-chair of the SANS Cyber Threat Intelligence Summit. His intimate understanding of the security market and his specific focus on incident response, threat intelligence and malware analysis, make him uniquely qualified to work with Digital Shadows’ partners and clients to better grow and secure their businesses. Prior to Forrester Research, Rick was a solutions engineer with Accuvant, where he advised Fortune 500 clients on security strategy and architected enterprise security solutions.

“As an industry analyst, I tracked countless companies that claimed to provide threat intelligence; but with its vision for cyber situational awareness, Digital Shadows stood out among them,” Holland said. “In a world where everyone offers threat intelligence, all threat intelligence is not created equal. Digital Shadows provides relevant threat intelligence, not just more indicators of exhaustion that overwhelm users.”

Digital Shadows provides organizations with cyber situational awareness, a complete view of an organization’s digital footprint and the profile of their attackers. Digital Shadows SearchLight™continuously monitors more than 100 million data sources in 27 languages across the visible, deep and dark web. Supported with expertise from the company’s intelligence operations team, it provides an “attacker’s eye view” of organizations’ exposed data and the risks requiring mitigation, in order to prevent, detect and help contain cyber-related incidents.

“Digital Shadows makes the intelligence actionable by easily integrating it into an organization’s security program,” Holland continued. “The company also addresses the recruiting and staffing challenges of intelligence work by providing intelligence analysis and operations support that complements existing internal teams, or turnkey support for those companies without their own analysts.”

Digital Shadows closed 2015 with more than 400 percent revenue growth over 2014, and experienced significant customer expansion in both the United States and Europe, across verticals such as financial services, retail and manufacturing. The company grew rapidly with more than 30 hires in the second half of 2015, with plans to more than double its overall size to 120 employees in 2016. Key hires included global sales and marketing, service delivery and intelligence, data science, with significant investments in product and engineering.

“Rick’s vision for the market, coupled with his passion for guiding senior security leaders to develop and implement their security and threat intelligence initiatives, make him an exceptional addition to our leadership team,” said Alastair Paterson, CEO and co-founder of Digital Shadows. “His insights and oversight of our most strategic programs will empower us to more quickly innovate our technology and our operations, and more important, better support our clients.”
